Hyundai Service & Repair

Mac’s Radiator and Automotive Service has been active in Oregon and Idaho for more than 70 years. In that time, we have grown from a simple radiator shop to a full-service automotive care provider in a number of locations across both states.

At the heart of that growth has been a simple mission. We strive to treat everyone who walks through that door as if they were members of our own family. We know that car trouble is stressful and frustrating. We also know that most people don’t have time to become automotive experts.

That’s why we extend every effort to ensure that you know exactly what is going on with your vehicle and why we make the recommendations that we do. Just like you would expect your doctor to explain their diagnosis and recommended treatment, we will show your Hyundai works in a way that makes sense. You will know why our recommendations can resolve the issue, and you can make informed decisions every step of the way.

While we work to inform and educate, we will take care of your Hyundai with top-of-the-line equipment and facilities. Professionally certified automotive experts will lead the work, and your vehicle will receive the best care we can provide.

We can’t make car trouble go away, but we will do everything in our power to minimize the stress that comes with it.

Common Hyundai Repairs and Services

As part of our commitment to educating and taking care of you, we can go over some of the most common Hyundai services that come up in our shops. Each service works toward a specific purpose, and knowing what these services are and why they arise can help you take better care of your Hyundai.

Routine Maintenance

Routine maintenance is essential to vehicle care. Without these services, your Hyundai will fail much sooner than it should.

Every vehicle needs oil changes. You know that they are important, and you need a service provider that can get it done.

Along with oil changes, brakes need attention. They should be inspected annually and replaced when they wear thin enough. Comprehensive brake services prevent damage to the multi-part system (such as rotor grinding) that can be costly to repair.

The whole coolant system also needs attention. Radiator flushes, coolant checks and inspections keep the radiator working correctly and prevent excessive wear on the coolant system.

Preventative Care

Beyond maintenance, your Hyundai benefits from preventative care. This is when essential parts are replaced before they fail. This type of Hyundai service keeps you from being stranded on the road.

Drive belts are a common point of failure that will stop a car from driving. Replacing them at the first sign of wear stays ahead of the problem.

Water pumps show up on scheduled maintenance for every vehicle. Recommendations will vary, but usually, by the time a vehicle gets to 100,000 miles (or less in many cases) you should have the water pump replaced. If not, sudden water pump failure can do more than just strand you on the side of the road. It can take the whole engine with it.

Fuel filters, hoses and even the fuel pump are on this list too. They should be inspected regularly and replaced ahead of failure to prevent the worst kinds of car trouble.

Power Train

Powertrain issues are not always easy to notice or assess. Any time you have weird vibrations or noises, it is likely tied to the power train.

Rather than hit you with preemptive services, powertrain covers Hyundai repair after a problem arises. With these services, we will diagnose specific problems and then fix them accordingly.

Major Parts

When discussing common Hyundai repairs, a handful of parts show up more than the rest. This is common for many vehicles, as nothing on a car can last forever.

You already know that your alternator is important. This is the piece that generates electricity for your car. Everything electric in the vehicle is powered by the alternator, and it recharges the battery. When alternators fail, they have to be replaced, and we will do that for you.

Air compressors are another big one. They rotate at high speeds, and eventually, that creates wear on the system. When an air compressor fails, it does more than you might think. Sure, your air conditioner will stop working, but a failed air compressor can also inhibit rotations on the drive belt, which can keep the vehicle from running.

Other common repair points are on the air intake and the oil valves. The air intake includes a number of parts, all of which are essential for igniting the fuel that goes through the engine. The oil valves keep the engine lubricated so it doesn’t grind itself into failure. We can diagnose all of these issues and resolve them promptly.
